The Importance of Wearing a Helmet While Riding a Motorcycle

Legal awareness in Indonesia is still very low, one indication is unconscious to use a helmet while riding, although using the helmet is very important and  some Indonesian people don’t realize it. So, why we must wearing a helmet  while riding a motorcycle?

First, Because Indonesia is a country of laws, we must obey to the law. According to applicable laws in Indonesia, Law No. 22 of 2009 about Road Traffic and Road Transport. which requires that every person riding Motorcycles and Motorcycle Passengers must wear a helmet that meets Indonesia national standards.

Second, it’s for safety. Mostly Indonesian People use a motorcycle for daily activities, 72% of motor vehicle accidents involving motorcycles and 30% accident victims died, it’s the main cause of teen deaths. Though dead or not dead is God business, we as human must do a preventive action with wearing a helmet while riding a motorcycle and it’s mainly reason why we must wearing a helmet while riding a motorcycle. The recommended designs of motorcycle helmets can provide total protection. They not only protect riders from getting a worse road injured accident but also from flying bugs, such as rain, sleet, mud and other potential projectiles

However, what most important is wearing helmet when riding is a matter of using it properly. Bikers should use the helmets which are fixed to their head. It is really not good if they places simply the helmets on the head without settling them properly. The bikers should fasten the helmet correctly to their head in order to get safe and comfort.
